In rather unusual political news, a Wisconsin senate candidate’s parents have decided to donate $5200 to the opposition of their son, Kevin Nicholson, a Marine combat veteran.  Mr. Nicholson is running against incumbent Senator Tammy Baldwin, D-Wis in the upcoming 2018 midterm election.  Michael and Donna Nicholson both donated the maximum $2700 to Baldwin’s primary campaign, the maximum allowed under Federal law.  The Nicholson parents will be allowed to donate again once the general election is officially underway.

The Republican candidate admitted that his parents’ political views differ from his.  Both of his parents have long been supporters of Democratic groups and candidates.

Kevin Nicholson, stated to CNN that, “my parents have a different worldview than I do, and it is not surprising that they would support a candidate like Tammy Baldwin, who shares their perspective.”

He continued, “Regardless of who may disagree with my life decisions, I would not trade these experiences for anything,” with respect to his own life experiences.

The revelation about his parent’s political views and activities happens to follow an earlier controversy in which Kevin Nicholson attacked fellow Wisconsinite and House Speaker Paul Ryan, saying that Ryan has a “light footprint in the state,” according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinal.
